Community highlights

Across Nevada, communities are finding meaningful ways to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. Here you’ll find a curated mix of events, projects, and opportunities that reflect that shared effort—beyond official America 250 Nevada programs.

Las Vegas Celebrates America250

From Hoover Dam to the Las Vegas Strip and Washington, D.C., the LVCVA is celebrating America250 with a summer-long series of patriotic activations highlighting Southern Nevada’s role in the American story. Programming launched Memorial Day at Hoover Dam with the unveiling of a massive American flag and nightly red, white, and blue illumination through July 4. The celebration continues with eight consecutive Saturdays of synchronized fireworks across the Strip and Downtown Las Vegas, culminating in a July 4 display from nine resort-corridor rooftops. Las Vegas will also be represented at the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., where the Nevada Pavilion will showcase the state’s contributions—from the Comstock Lode and Hoover Dam to its rise as the Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World.

  • A 300-foot-by-150-foot American flag and nightly red, white, and blue lighting display illuminate Hoover Dam and the canyon walls. Lighting begins each evening at dusk. Weather conditions may periodically require the flag to be temporarily lowered.
