Our Nevada Stories
We all have a story worth telling
History isn’t just in textbooks—it’s in our stories, our voices, and our everyday lives. We’re capturing Nevada’s history as it happens, one story at a time.
Our Nevada Stories seeks voices from every corner of Nevada, including longtime locals, new Nevadans, community leaders, creatives, historians, and everyday people with something to say. Whether it’s a moment of pride, connection, or change, your story is part of Nevada’s legacy.
Share your story
We’ve partnered with TheirStory, a secure online platform that lets you record your story from your phone, tablet, or computer (no downloads or special equipment required).
How it works
Select a recording project (see prompts below).
On the TheirStory platform, you can use the arrows at the top to sort through available prompts. You can also change your microphone and camera settings if needed by clicking on the Settings button at the bottom.
Click the Record button at the bottom to begin recording. You can respond to multiple prompts in one video.
When you’re done, click the Stop Recording button at the bottom.
Review your video. When you’re ready to submit, enter your name and email address, check the Terms & Conditions checkbox, and click “Submit”. If you’d like to re-record, you can click “Discard” instead and start over.
Our team will review all submissions to ensure they align with community standards and the goals of the project. Stories that are respectful and on-topic will be added to the Our Nevada Stories archive.

Our Nevada Stories Podcast
The Our Nevada Stories team will crisscross the state, interviewing leaders, historians, and everyday Nevadans. These stories—personal, powerful, and local—will be featured in a new podcast series set to launch in 2026. Episodes will be broadcast on local public radio and available for download.
Do you have something big to share? Email your contact information and story ideas to our State Folklorist at bmcmullen@nvculture.org for a chance to be included in the Our Nevada Stories Podcast.
After 2026, all stories—whether shared through TheirStory or through the podcast—will live on through a searchable digital archive, the Nevada Arts Council Folklife program, and as immersive exhibits inside the State Museums.
